CorpLex (original name MimoLegal) was founded in 2014 in a flexi-desk in a Fujiarah Creative City Free Zone with two members.
It was founded by Mirazizbek Makhamatzhanov who is a corporate lawyer. Prior to establishing CorpLex, Mirazizbek has worked in prominent Dubai-based consulting and law firms such as DBA Business Advisors (currently Adam Consulting) and Al Haddad & Associates Advocates and Legal Consultants as a lawyer specializing in corporate, commercial and real estate laws.
Mirazizbek graduated from the faculty of International Business Law from American University in Central Asia, one of the top-tier universities in Central Asia.
At the time of establishing CorpLex, Mirazizbek noticed that corporate services industry in UAE was still shaping and it was offered by any layman without any legal background, who were familiar with some processes. Also, several company formation service providers emerged in the market who automated the company formation services by promoting a particular busines setup package, similar to fast-food industry.
However, this approach often led to costly mistakes and frustrations by many international investors, because such “one-size-fits-all” is not suitable for everyone.
Any company has to be setup with the right legal structure and under the right jurisdiction from the outset. In UAE, relocating the company from one jurisdiction into another (e.g. from free zone to mainland or vice versa) requires setting up a completely new company and applying for residence visas and work permits for everyone from scratch. Such changes apparently will result in huge waste of money and time at the crucial stage of the business.
Therefore, setting up a business in a “fast-food” style may cost double if not more at a later stage.
